Myworkout GO uses GPS to track your outdoor activity 🌳
Myworkout GO uses GPS to measure your outdoor activity. We know that there are, unfortunately, many things that can affect the accuracy of your phone. It can be the model and its operating system, your telecom operator, weather conditions and where you are when you carry out the activity. Tall buildings and trees will be able to block or hinder the quality of the GPS signals. In addition, some phone covers may block the GPS reception of your device.
For you to get as accurate a measurement of your activity as possible, we recommend that you complete these simple steps before you start training with us:
- Update your app and always make sure you have the latest version available.
- Make sure GPS is turned on on your phone. You will find this under settings and Myworkout GO.
- Let time and date be set automatically. You can also find this under settings.
- Everyone benefits from a time-out, including your phone. Please give it a restart from time to time so that it can keep up with you.
- In some cases, activating and then deactivating "Flight mode" will help the mobile find its GPS signal.
Android phones 📱
If you have a Huawei phone:
Make sure Myworkout Go is one of your protected applications. This so your phone understands that you are the one to decide when your activity is over and when the app can be switched off.
If you have a Samsung or HTC phone:
Make sure the power save feature is turned off for Myworkout GO.
Issues with GPS may lead to these questions 👇
Q: "My boyfriend and I went for a run, but our app on our phones say we have not run the same distance. Why?"
A: This is because different phones have different solutions for GPS. Some phones are better at picking up the signals from the satellites and can therefore provide more accurate locations. There is always a possibility that the phone picks up the wrong signal and gives the wrong location. We are familiar with this, and to minimize the possibility of erroneous measurement, we filter all location points and remove as many errors as possible. In this way, distance measurement with GPS should only vary within 0-2% between different phones, provided both have good GPS signals.
Q: "When I use Myworkout Go, my phone runs out of battery so quickly. What can I do about it?"
A: The battery capacity varies greatly from phone to phone. It is affected by the make, age and use of the phone. If you have many apps running at the same time, your phone will run out of power faster. What we know helps all phones is to turn off what you are not using. Close other apps you do not need while using Myworkout GO.
Q: "Myworkout GO only tracks the first minutes/kilometres of the workout, while this second workout app I used at the same time recorded the entire workout; why?"
A: Make sure Myworkout Go is one of your protected applications. This so your phone understands that you are the one to decide when your activity is over and when the app can be switched off.
